I am a woman in a men’s prison. I am known to some as a transgender inmate. I prefer to be known as a woman, not a transgender woman. I am not a third category of gender and I’m on nobodies spectrum. A woman, that’s me.

I have a voice of my own. I can speak and write. Nobody needs to represent me in some report, statistic, or article. I am an individual, not a collective. I am a human, not a herd of cattle. My experiences, as a collective, in a man’s prison is not typical. What I have done is unique because I am unique.
