…for each other and for the love of learning.

This week I jumped into something I wasn’t quite planning on, but I’m glad I did. I started a long term project to educate myself more on mathematics. But it’s way more than math. For me, it’s the first time our little group has been together in months. Christopher worked with the local college here and they agreed to allow him to start a math lecture series (of course, he’s a math guy, right?). They initially opened six slots total for it and after some discussions, he and Ruth talked me into joining. Of all the slots, Christopher, Ruth, Marshall and I hold four of them.

Because of Covid, we haven’t been in the same productive space for quite some time and to see these amazing people on the regular warms my soul. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! On top of Christopher’s math lecturing, we all have to give speeches and solve problems. We are all responsible to teach and build a sense of community with the project. Every session has homework and I get to get to collaborate with brilliant minds on Friday afternoons. This semester, Christopher said we are focusing on probabilities. He’s did an amazing job right away (and of course being with people I love is super badass). But we are experiencing such a great thing here with this, plus it helps Ruth and Marshall prepare for the University of Washington in the next year or two.

I’ll be writing more about this from time to time. I’m just glad Christopher had the support of the college like this. They are amazingly supportive! I can’t begin to say enough wonderful things about this opportunity. I’m not the best at math, so when it hurts to learn, I have the right group of people to catch me when I fall…
